There is going to be a wide variety of unique items, but my inspiration for the show was tea towels and tabletop ideas. I had a variety of tea towels made and some exclusively designed for the spring show. Along with the tea towels, I had coordinating placemats and napkins made. Forest Ridge Thoughts...

I like to find homes that look lifeless and sad. I like to make these homes pretty and happy. But when I look at the Forest Ridge House (below), my chest gets tight and I can't breath... Where are the windows? Where is the symmetry? Where is the house? The challenge is set before me and I can't bail now. So here are some of my thoughts about this house and what I am going to do with it.

Exterior:
Every house needs a central focal point. A front door would be nice. But we can't see the front door. So, I am going to attempt to have the middle wall of mystery torn down. Behind it is a sweet little courtyard with much potential- thus the focal point for this home.
Just like the eyes are the windows to one's soul, in the same way- windows are the windows to a home's heart. Wow, that sounded like a bad card. Anyways, this home definitley qualifies as lifeless because of the lack of windows. I am going to add windows to the front of this house and replace all the metal windows throughout so it can bring in some sunshine.
Paint and Landscape- Along with the new windows, I want a new color for this house. The Red, White, and Blue is a little too themey for me. I am thinking of painting the house a soft, creamy white with a stark white trim and black accents (Shutters, Front door, Sconces, and Iron Work). New roof for sure and new landscape that has heighth and a lot of movement.

Interior:

On the interior, it has nice arched entries and wooden beams on the ceiling. I am normally not a saltillo tile girl, but the design theme I am going to play with is a traditional home with a spanish style twist. Tasty.

All the bathrooms are going to have a very clean spa-like look. The bedrooms will be simple and the living areas will be wide open and truly livable.

The kitchen will have a warm, stylish feel. I like to play with patterns and textures in the kitchen. The saltillo tile will be layed straight on the floor and diagnol or brick patterned on the backsplash. Chunky painted cabinets with substantial oil rubbed bronze knobs.

Chip and I have come across many homes we purchased to renovate that were tough, but this one has got to be the most challenging yet. I am going to try and reface the front of this house without blowing the budget. Keep checking the blog for new pictures on the renovation process. If you know anyone wanting to live in Woodway, this house will be a great option! 4 bedroom/3 bath.

Little emmie kay came on January 5 and everything went so smooth and peaceful. Everyone is adjusting well...the other kids love her! Now that I will be staying home for a while, stay tuned for some ideas and projects I am working on!

New Season

Laura and I had such a great time doing 5 months of Magnolia Weekend. We had such a great turnout every month and enjoyed every minute of it! We both have been praying about this new year and what we should do with the weekend shows and what paths to take in our own personal lives. For now, I am enjoying staying home with my new baby and 3 other wonderful children. I feel the need to slow down and really enjoy these little beings God has put before me. I am still working with Chip and our home business Magnolia Homes doing design. I will always be in the market of doing magnolia shows, but for now- the once a month thing is a little too much to take on. However, I will be sending out posts regularly on fresh ideas for your home and updates on any upcoming events.
Laura is still praying about several options she has in front of her... we will keep you posted. I know whatever she does will be exciting and creative! She is talented and ready for new and exciting ventures!

Well the show is almost here and Laura and I are so excited to get this thing started! We look forward to seeing you and sharing with you the things that have inspired us over the last couple of months.
A common theme for the both of us is that we love to find things that seem unlovely, unusable, and broken. We have learned to always look past that which is evident and to somehow find a way to restore life, meaning and purpose back into these objects. It is always a moving experience for us because it reminds us of who we are and what God can truly do in our lives. We have both come to the conclusion that we are unusable and broken without God in our lives. So many times we try to fix ourselves only to find ourselves right back in the junk pile. It takes a loving God who sees past our sin and failures to come in and restore our souls and reawaken our purpose.
We hope that when you come into the shop- you sense this reawakening and reminder in your own life. We all need to refreshed!

Hello everyone!!! The week is FINALLY here..3 days away from the big sale!!! We are putting final touches together and can't wait to see you!!! THIS Thursday-Saturday, 10am-6pm

Praise God He goes before us and He holds us together! We have been reminded the past few days of this truth... that we are weak, and none of this is about us. :) He is so faithful to bring us to the place our hearts need to be, completely reliant upon Him.

We are so excited to share this weekend with you and pray that you will be blessed by His presence and He would be lifted high.

Some wreathy ideas...

Wreaths are an inexpensive way to dress up your home for the holidays or to simply highlight the beauty of nature within your home. Here are some creative and fresh ideas on how to hang a wreath and make a statement!

~Get an old architectural piece like a gate or an iron accent and hang it on your wall and then wire your wreath to the front of it to help soften the heaviness of the architecture while playing on the dimension of your decor.

~Find a large heavy frame and hang it on your wall and then place a wreath on the inside of the frame. This will show your wreath off and make a statement.

~Hang your wreath over your bed or your baby's crib. It makes the room feel cozy and whimsical. We have some beautiful wreaths that are 2 tier hanging wreaths that would be perfect for this idea.

~Find an old screen door and screw it into your wall and place your wreath in the opening where the screen once was. This makes the room feel inviting while keeping things interesting and out of the ordinary.

~Lay your wreath on the center of your table and either put a plate on top of it to dress up your serving dish or put candles in the middle of the wreath for a unique centerpiece. To add some height, place the wreath on a large cake plate and follow the same idea.

~If you have a foot board at the end of your bed, a wreath is always a delicate touch to your room ensemble.

~Hang your wreath from the front of a mirror. Use fishing wire and tie it to the nail that is holding the mirror. Simply drape the hanging wreath over the mirror for a beautiful display- I love hanging wreaths in front of my mirrors- especially for the holidays.

The sky is the limit with what you can do with any object in your home. Always think outside the box- pull from your creative side and watch things come alive in places that were once dull and ordinary. We have a great selection of wreaths for our September show- hope you get inspired!

We were on a mission to find mantles... and that we did! From old farmhouses in North Carolina to historic homes in West Virginia.-we have some really ornate, beautiful mantles for our September show. Laura and I have always loved salvaged old mantles... they tell a story from the past, they are the jewels that once adorned a home filled with life and love. Whether you are really needing a mantle for your actual fireplace or just want to put one up for architectural design- they are a beautiful reflection of the past and stories retold.

We were able to make another successful shopping trip! We have no idea how we fit it all on the trailer, but we did, and thankfully it all stayed in place on the drive home. :) The boys were able to fish again while we(between pregnant cravings and poison ivy craziness) had a blast finding treasures. We are working hard to prepare to show them to you...almost one month until the big weekend!

TRUE OR FALSE?

TRUE! You may be very fortunate to see this post because I have a feeling Joanna is going to delete it, but i just couldn't help myself. I have to share this story. As we are walking out of the GRAND Market/World Trade Center of the Great State of Texas, completely feeling on top of the world and as proud as punch of our new purchases, and through the largest revolving doors I have EVER seen in my life... Jo is one step inside the revolving doors when...CRASH...the precious new item we had just found drops into a thousand (ok, maybe 5 ) pieces. Jo drops to the floor to rescue the treasured pieces before the massive door sweeps them away, as I drop to the floor hysterically laughing and reaching for my camera. (how could i not capture such a graceful moment?) Two sweet older ladies run to Jo's rescue and look over at me like I have to be the rudest, most selfish girl they have ever seen. IT WAS WONDERFUL! If only i had had a video camera, you too would be laughing hysterically.
